An IT cover letter is a formally drafted letter which is attached along with a resume and sent to a company so as to apply for a particular job position in IT field. These cover letters are used to provide additional information about oneself directed towards the employer. Any cover letter helps to put forward a candidate’s career goal and his/her preparation towards it.

There is a set pattern and formal manner in which an IT cover letter must be framed. The following points shall help in explaining the same:

- The subject must be mentioned in a single line after a formal salutation and the exact title of the job must be mentioned in it.
- The body of the letter should focus on providing the main details about the sender’s skills, experience and educational qualifications.
